In May 2023, Sakinah Foundation hosted a vibrant and inspiring “Teens Talk” session with teenage girls at St. John’s Manyala ACK Church, bringing together young voices, mentors, and community leaders for a day of candid conversations, learning, and empowerment.
The session focused on key topics affecting adolescent girls today, including:
Self-esteem and body confidence
Peer pressure and decision-making
Sexual and reproductive health education
Faith, purpose, and personal growth
The “Teens Talk” initiative is designed to provide a safe, judgment-free space where girls can ask honest questions, share their experiences, and receive accurate information and emotional support. At St. John’s Manyala, this goal was truly achieved.
From discussions about navigating friendships and relationships to understanding bodily changes and self-respect, the session helped girls feel heard, seen, and valued.
“I’ve never had a chance to talk openly about these things. Today I feel stronger and more confident,”
– Participant, Age 15
What made this particular “Teens Talk” unique was the blend of mentorship and spiritual grounding. Speakers included youth counselors, church leaders, and peer mentors who emphasized that faith and personal development go hand in hand.
Through storytelling and interactive Q&A sessions, the girls learned that they are not alone in their struggles—and that they have the power to make positive choices for their futures.
Participants left the session with not only information but also practical tools—including resource materials, journals, and contact points for further support. More importantly, they left with a renewed sense of self-worth and purpose.
“We’re not just talking to girls; we’re investing in future leaders, mothers, and change-makers,”

The success of “Teens Talk” at St. John’s Manyala ACK Church is a clear reminder that community-based, youth-centered dialogue is essential for building a healthier, more empowered generation of young women.
Sakinah Foundation is committed to taking this initiative to more churches, schools, and villages—ensuring that every girl, regardless of background, has access to the knowledge, support, and confidence she needs to thrive.
Thank You
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the clergy and leadership at St. John’s Manyala ACK Church for opening their doors and hearts, and to all the young girls who showed up, spoke out, and inspired us all.
